Sagano (Japanese Restaurant Surfers Paradise) (NSW NORTH COAST)

Had a family dinner here and the food and service was really good. Better than expected for a restaurant in a really touristy area. The place was spacious and airy without a big crowd of people. Prices were also reasonable.

Truly the BEST Japanese restaurant we’ve ever been to! We feel so lucky to have found this gem. The food was incredibly delicious, and the staff were absolutely wonderful—kind, attentive, and full of warmth. I ordered the Aburi Salmon Don, and it was so fresh and flavorful! What makes this place even more special is that it’s pet-friendly. They absolutely adore dogs and even gave our puppy, Bruno, some chicken treats! In a city where it’s rare to find places welcoming to pets, this restaurant went above and beyond, treating Bruno like royalty. My husband and I were blown away by the genuine kindness of the staff. Their beautiful hearts and souls shone through in every interaction. We’ve fallen in love with this place and can’t wait to come back again soon! Thank you! :)

Excellent genuine Japanese served by friendly Japanese hosts. Came late on a Saturday, plenty of space, and quiet so we could talk and wind down after a crazy day. Food was delicious, perfectly lightly seasoned as one would expect of Japanese cuisine. Left quite satisfied!
