Great value for money Japanese food in Canberra. I read a review saying there is too much msg and quality of the food is bad. Clearly it’s her first day in Canberra. Good luck finding asian food with no msg at this price range.
Food here is pretty good! Although not exactly a ‘restaurant’ restaurant, they have great quality meals and sides better than some restaurants. Lunchtime until 4pm for late lunches, before they close for an hour before dinner time. Have been here twice and is definitely a great option if I’m around the area. 👍
Finding a comfortable store that reminds me of the essence of the hometown was hard, exploring a newly stepped location for a peaceful and warm meal was miles away. Coming across Bento Tei, our eagerness rose. Reading and deciding my meal from the menus was fascinating. While ordering, I had first been told to wait as they were busy with their organizing, and until they finally came back to the counter I was expecting some welcoming smile to be served. But no, they have forgotten their basic customer service. While waiting for my meal to be served, the music they allocated was not atmospherically matching, as a Japanese restaurant is playing Korean pop music. Before start eating, I realized the man seated behind had left with only few mouthful. Not knowing the reasons until I had my bites. Being shocked by the intense use of MSG and salt, I was severely disappointed. Katsu chicken was only 0.5cm chicken meat with thick coated crumbs. Leaving in despair I did not want to come back again. From this unpleasing experience, I sincerely do not recommend to those who are interested in Japanese food, given what I have experienced, a solid rating of 1/5 stars has been concluded.
