This cold night demanded some flavourful hot soup, so I decided to make a stop here. Relatively small shop decorated with beautiful art and lanterns that brighten the space. I settled for their simple ramen soup and chicken Katsu on the side. In one sip, I could taste the countless hours the broth had been simmering. The prices are decent and pretty close to Caulfield station, which is a good reach for Monash students. I do suggest translating the online menu to English, though, so that it's easier for everyone to understand when ordering.
I got the men-tei ramen which was alright. The broth has a nice slight hint of seafood flavour, like the imitation lobster. The noodles are slightly thicker, but doesn’t really absorb the broth that well, though it is nicely cooked. The ingredients are meh. Pork slice wasn’t good, it’s tough and flavour isn’t good too. The seafood is typical, nothing extraordinary. Overall it’s an alright spot, but I wouldn’t really recommend the men-tei ramen.
I ordered the Curry Katsu Don Pork on Uber Eats for $25 after checking the reviews and photos on Google Maps. Unfortunately, the dish I received was very disappointing. It only came with one piece of carrot and one piece of potato, the katsu was dry and lacked flavor, and the curry itself was almost solid in texture. I hope the restaurant can seriously improve the quality of this dish. Photo provided for reference.
