  • Walk behind the Lexus building and there is an innocuous door which will lead you to a very unique, intimate and beautiful dining experience. Lachlan and Sophie are perfect hosts and the conversations that occur between them and the guests really make the night special. The food is incredible and the fact that some of the cooking occurs right in front of you is fantastic. Sophie and Lachlan's explanation of Japanese culture, the dishes and crockery just adds to the experience. Loved the sake and tea pairing. So glad that we were able to experience this.

  • Omotenashi is so much more than a meal, it is an unforgettable experience. On approach, you'll spot the architecturally designed Lexus building, turn into the unassuming laneway and be greeted by Lachlan and Sophie at the door and ushered into a moody, modern space. While waiting for the show to start, wander around the dealership and enjoy delicious tea in the company of luxury cars. Take your spot at the intimate 10-seat U-shaped bench and be treated to the chefs' expert explanation of the intricate dishes and thoughtfully paired tea and sake. A combination of the freshest, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and imported Japanese elements, this degustation journey over ~3.5 hours was as entertaining as it was delicious. The careful curation of local and Japanese ceramics (and abalone shell spoons!) were all part of the show, with every minute detail thought through. The evening concluded with Sophie lighting incense and shaping origami cranes for all the guests. It was quite fabulous. 11/10 cherry blossoms.

  • Craziest experience ever. The food was so so yummy. You get looked after so nicely. The cold brewed teas were very special. Insights into what was being served made it very interesting. I’ve never had such a cool dinner.
