OMI Canberra (CANBERRA)

Amazing Japanese food in Canberra! Probably the best I've had that isn't fine dining. Definitely recommend booking ahead as I had to wait around half an hour on a weekday night to dine in since it seems pretty popular. They have very nice matcha, houjicha and black sesame drinks that aren't just sugar. The ramen was excellent with a rich tonkotsu broth and perfectly cooked chashu. Other dishes I tried like their wagyu and oysters were well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. Not an exaggeration to say that many seated around me were also commenting on how good the food was. Some things are probably a tad expensive, but it is a premium worth paying for the quality of food. Staff were friendly and helpful, but probably a bit stretched with how busy they are.

All the meals were extremely delicious! The wagyu beef rice I had was the most delicious meal I've ever had. The truffle fries are also highly recommended.

I don’t know how many times I’ve come back to OMI, but every time food is always SUPERB. 10/10 recommend for all Japanese food lovers out there! ♥️
