  • Really nice cosy place to have lunch. Food is clean, tasty, and well presented. We had the beef teriyaki and pork raman. Both were really great and highly recommended. Spring rolls a little tasteless but edible. We've had takeaway from here previously, which was also good. Atmosphere good, clean and presentable. We were pleasantly satisfied without the over filling feeling. It's definitely worth a try.

  • I know there’s no shortage of Japanese restaurants in the city, but let me tell you—whenever I’m craving Japanese food or planning a lunch out, Umai will always be at the top of my mind. From the moment we arrived, the service was genuinely exceptional. The staff were warm and attentive—we were a group of three adults with a pram, and the waitress kindly offered us a cozy corner spot. When my son woke up, she quickly brought over a high chair along with a plastic spoon, fork, and a cup with a straw. It’s the little details like this that make such a big difference and show they really care. We ordered the Chicken Karaage Bento, and it was a delicious experience from start to finish. They served hot miso soup first, which my son absolutely loved, followed by the bento. The salmon sashimi was incredibly fresh and made the perfect starter. The karaage was beautifully crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of that distinct ginger flavor that I can’t get enough of. I even took some home, reheated it in the air fryer, and it still tasted amazing. This place has definitely won me over. I’ll be coming back to Umai again and again whenever I’m in the city!❤️😘

  • no frills Japanese restaurant with basic dishes. mushroom salad is tasty and addictive. sashimi looks good but lacks flavour, probably frozen too long. unagi rice is our favorite dish, simply delicious and sauce goes very well with the rice.
