Yakitori Yurippi (HUNTER)

Welcome to Tokyo in North Sydney! Skewers of all your favourite meats and fish, cramped into sharing tables or around the grill (recommended!!), with a busy kind of friendly hustle. You could literally close your eyes and imagine you’re in an alley yakitori restaurant in downtown Akasaka. We loved the Wagyu and the chicken oyster, as well as the chicken karage. The miso soup was to die for. The omelette was delicate and tasty. The gyoza are fire. Come again, and book the open grill area for the full experience. Great couples night out or for a group of friends. Book early so that you’re not disappointed.

Amazing place. We had the best spots where all the action happens. Very friendly staff and amazing food. I can say we rolled away from there. Our party of 4 highlights were the eel, chicken meatball with egg, ox tongue, chicken heart, scallops and chicken skin. Long list, as you hear, you can’t go wrong. Would definitely recommend this place.

The reservation wasn’t handled well. We arrived at 7:26, checked in, and got no direction. When we followed up at 7:29, the staff responded—rather bluntly—that our reservation was at 7:30, even though there were seats available. The waiting area was cramped, and when we were finally seated, they tried to squeeze us into a packed corner. They claimed some tables were 'specifically booked' (not sure how that works), even though plenty of tables were open and no one else was expected until 8:15. Great food as always, but the service was confusing and unwelcoming.
